Julie Whelan Photography was tasked by a textbook publisher to produce the cover photo and additional photography for their upcoming Kinesiology volume. We had been wanting to do a shoot that captured the effects of a rapid stop on ice with skates–the classic snow spray, if you will. Coincidentally, that is exactly what the guys over at Kinesiology Books Publisher had envisioned for the cover photo. So, heigh-ho! Off to Port Hope we go.
The first shoot took place at the Peter Campbell Memorial Rink at Trinity College.
One of the contributors to the textbook lent us her boys for the afternoon and here’s the result:
Because we enjoyed the Port Hope experience so much, we decided to shoot the sequel in the lovely Stonetown of St. Mary’s, Ontario. We met up with Steve DuBarry of Power Edge Pro and some of his protégés at the Pyramid Recreation Centre. While Steve ran his Power Edge Pro program on one end of the rink, Julie Whelan Photography was able to capture these images at the other:
