Panthers on the Prowl – Image of the Week

The Tournament – Panthers on the Prowl

The Panthers on the Prowl Tournament was held in St.Thomas this past weekend. The fifty-three team tournament was held over three arenas: The Timken Community Centre, the Memorial Arena and the East Elgin Community Complex. Teams from Atom to Bantam divisions from North York to Stoney Creek to Livonia were in participation. A big thanks to Mandy Hindley for gracefully organizing such a hectic event.

The Image

Here is the Panthers on the Prowl Image of the Week. We photographed 7438 images over three days and gave ourselves a lot of images to choose from for the Image of the Week. We chose this as our favourite for the obvious reason: it makes you happy just looking at it. This Stoney Creek Sabres right-winger was elated after scoring her goal and it was written all over her face. Sometimes in the middle of photographing a tournament I’m tired and stressed about getting everything done, but when I capture a moment like this all that stress goes away. These moments remind me of why everybody is at the tournament: to have fun.

The Settings

The Timken Community Centre opened in 2005 so it’s very well lit, and the benches are large enough for me to stand on to shoot. This image was shot at f2.8, 1/1250 and ISO 6400.
