Lucan Ken Bailey Memorial – Image of the Week

The Tournament – Lucan Ken Bailey Memorial

The Ken Bailey Memorial Tournament was held at the Lucan Community Memorial Centre in Lucan, ON. It was our pleasure to work with the Lucan Atom team and Steve and Shannon DuBarry, the tournament coordinators. All the parents of the team got together and put on a bake sale and lunch to raise funds for the team. As you know from my previous Blog posts, I always love a strong sense of community.

Steve DuBarry has a lot invested in hockey. Not only did he and his wife, Shannon, organize the Ken Bailey Memorial Tournament with a son on the Atom team, Steve is also the Director of Instructor Development for Power Edge Pro, the ultimate hockey training system. It’s always nice for Gerald and I to work with individuals who have this much invested in the sport.

The Image

Here is the Lucan Ken Bailey Memorial Tournament Image of the Week. I chose this image because it represents the camaraderie and sense of community in Lucan. The Atom team had just scored the winning goal of the game and were celebrating together. The team went on the win the tournament in the championship game against the Ilderton Jets.

The Settings

I kept the same settings that I use for the action images as this was taken right after the play stopped. The Lucan arena is fairly well lit so with my shutter speed at 1/1250 I found the images to be nice and bright while keeping the detail in the white jerseys.  This image was shot at f2.8, 1/1250 at ISO 5000.
