Glencoe Tartan Tournament – Image of the Week

The Tournament – Glencoe Tartan Tournament

The Glencoe Tartan Tournament was held at the Southwest Middlesex Arena in Glencoe, ON. The tournament was host to eight teams from neighbouring towns such as Mt. Brydges, Port Stanley and Lucan.  It was well organized and actually ran ahead of schedule for most of the day.

The Image

Here is the Glencoe Tartan Tournament Image of the Week. I chose this one because it makes me smile when I look at it and there’s a story behind it. The look of utter shock on this little guy’s face came after he scored a goal. I photographed his elated face and was really happy with the result so I showed it to his coach. The Port Stanley coach said that he was so happy because it was his first goal in two years. He went on to score another goal in the same game and even the ref came over to the bench to congratulate him on his goals and cheer him on for the hatrick!

The Settings

I have been finding lately over the past couple tournaments I’ve been keeping my settings pretty much the same. The Canon 5D Mark III performs really well in low light so I can keep my preferred exposure of f2.8 @ 1/1250 and just change my ISO to accommodate darker arenas. This image was shot at f2.8, 1/1250 at ISO 6400.

Here is a look at a few more photographs that were considered for Image of the Week:
