Dorchester Dave Clarke Memorial – Image of the Week

The Tournament – Dave Clarke Memorial

The Dave Clarke Memorial was held at the Dorchester Community Centre in Dorchester, ON. The arena holds two pads: Canusa and APC (Auto Parts Centre) and is home to the SOJHL team, the Dorchester Dolphins. The tournament hosted twelve teams from neighbouring towns such as New Hamburg, Lambeth and Petrolia.  A special thanks to Mike MacIntyre for making the event run so smoothly.

The Image

Here is the Dave Clarke Memorial Image of the Week. It was a hard choice this week. Out of 3259 images taken over the entire tournament, we narrowed down our favourites to just 31. From there we chose four that spoke to us the most and two out of the four images were of this Petrolia Oilers goalie. We had to pick the most dynamic one and here it is! This image screams hope. What this goalie lacks in size, he makes up for with reflexes, the splits and determination! He’s one of the smallest players on the team but because he kept his eye on the puck, he managed to make this tricky save.

The Settings

I have been finding lately over the past couple tournaments I’ve been keeping my settings pretty much the same. The Canon 5D Mark III performs really well in low light so I can keep my preferred exposure of f2.8 @ 1/1250 and just change my ISO to accommodate darker arenas. This image was shot at f2.8, 1/1250 at ISO 6400.

Here is the other image of the Petrolia goalie and the four other images that were in the running for Image of the Week:
