I am Julie Whelan. I’m combining my background in sports and the outdoors with my love for photography to produce incomparable images of adventure seekers, athletic individuals, and athletes in competition & training environments.
As a child, I spent my winter giving my Mom grey hair playing contact hockey, my spring and fall going on adventures with my brothers and the kids across the street, and my summers traveling Canada and the northern United States with my family. I was outside most of the time and when I was eight I began to document my adventures. I’ve been lucky to always know what I wanted to be when I grew up, so when it was time to go off to college, I took Creative Photography at Humber College in Toronto. My dream started becoming a reality.
After photography school, so became Julie Whelan Photography: an outdoor adventure and active lifestyle photography business providing high quality environmental portraits and action sports images to tireless adventurer seekers and active individuals.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have my photography take me all over the globe. Some of my adventures include Africa, South East Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific Islands, the U.K., Europe, Mexico, South America, the United States, and of course, Canada.
I’ve also been lucky to work with some very talented athletes and organizations. They include:
Lloyd Moseby & Devon White
Darryl Sittler & Joe Bowen
